The pursuit of intimacy is a natural, human expression - and remains important throughout our lives. Since intimacy means many things to many people it is essential for care providers to fully understanding the importance of intimacy and the behaviors it elicits.

Expressions of intimacy among nursing home residents - especially those with cognitive impairment and/or dementia are often ignored, responded to with prejudice or responded to with inconsistency due to lack of understanding.

During this webinar, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the meanings behind expressions of intimacy among our residents, including:

Increase your understanding of issues surrounding resident sexuality and the pursuit of intimacy.
Understand intent: Differentiate between consensual and predatory behaviors.
Examine competence and capacity as related to the pursuit of intimate relationships among residents with cognitive impairment.
Identify barriers to intimacy including staff attitudes, privacy, resources, etc
Examine environmental, situational, human factor and care provider antecedents to overt hyper-sexuality as well as strategies for addressing these behaviors.
Understand the role and responsibilities of staff in the care of residents engaged in self-directed intimacy (masterbatory behaviors).

What kind of CEUs do you offer?

All our courses include NAB (NHA/RCAL), NHAP, RCFE/ARF, and California BRN (most states provide reciprocation). We do not yet offer social work CEUs, though we plan to in the future.

Do I need to take a test to prove I attended a class?

If you take an On Demand class, you must take a test to verify your attendance. If you take a live class, we must only verify your attendance through sign in.

How do I register?

How will I know that my order went through?
