Sexual Harassment I + LGBTQ Sensitivity Training - All Employees - Limited Time Offer Bundle
California law requires all employers of 5 or more employees to provide 1 hour of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to nonsupervisory employees and 2 hours of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to supervisors and managers once every two years. The law requires the training to include practical examples of harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.
The Sexual Harassment Prevention Training is offered as a one hour course for all employees, with a second one hour course for those managers/supervisors with oversight responsibilities. The two webinars have been developed in collaboration between Mariposa Training, the California Association of Health Facilitieis (CAHF) education foundation, the Quality Care Health Fopundation (QCHF) and Catherine Mattice Zundel of Civility Partners.
The two Sexual Harassment Prevention Training webinars have been developed specifically for the long term care provider, and will help participants meet the requirements of the law. These webinars will also provide long term care employees, managers, supervisors and owners with the information they need to prevent sexual harassment as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities to respond to such situations should they occur.
Mariposa Training, The California Association of Health Facilities (CAHF) education foundation, and the Quality Care Health Foundation(QCHF), offer an on-demand webinar for skilled nursing employees to educate workers on the specific needs of residents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
“There are more than three million older adults in the U.S. who identify as LGBTQ,” said Craig Cornett, CAHF CEO/President. “This training is in line with our philosophy of delivering care that is person-centered and sensitive to the needs of all residents, regardless of sexual orientation.”
The one-hour training will describe the required elements for responding to LGBTQ needs, discuss common terminology and challenges experienced by LGBTQ older adults and provide recommendations for honoring patient rights.
“We have a legal and moral obligation to treat all residents in a nondiscriminatory manner,” said QCHF Executive Director Claire Enright, B.S.N., RN-BC, “We plan to educate caregivers about the legal and social challenges faced by aging LGBTQ individuals who are entering our facilities in increasing numbers.”
The training will satisfy recent legal requirements that call for training for all licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants and facility medical directors. The training must take place once every two years and/or within six months of hire.
This class was developed in collaboration between Mairposa Training, QCHF, and the California Association of Long Term Care Medicine(CALTCM), which represents the state’s medical directors. Attendees will receive one continuing education certificate of participation.
